DHS identifying critical infrastructure
A number of you have seen the US Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) guidance (attached). This document has been referenced by a couple of states. For example, California’s most recent order requires a statewide shelter-in-place “except as needed to maintain continuity of operations of the federal critical infrastructure sectors as outlined” in CISA’s guidance: https://www.cisa.gov/identifying-critical-infrastructure-during-covid-19. AVMA was involved in discussions with DHS and development of this guidance. This guidance applies to veterinarians in all practice sectors. This document was created very quickly in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and is the first iteration. DHS is working on modifications and AVMA has submitted a request to have veterinarians explicitly noted in both the “Healthcare and Public Health” and “Food and Agriculture” sectors in the next version.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
